Exploring the Relationship Between Family Involvement and Innovative Capability in Chinese Family SMEs: The Role of HR Redundancy

The aim of this research is to investigate the relationship between family involvement and innovative capability in Chinese small-medium sized enterprises (SMEs). Although previous studies based on behavior agency model have investigated how financial factors could influence capability, there a dearth with an emphasis impact non-financial factors. Notably, moderating role played by firms’ human resource (HR) redundancy has not been sufficiently explored literature. Our analyzed secondary data SMEs listed China Stock Market Accounting Research (CSMAR) database. Standard multiple regression moderated regressions were conducted test main effects, respectively. According results our study, three dimensions (ownership, management, governance) negative but can be partially HR redundancy. Based socio-emotional wealth (SEW) perspective, contributes business literature addressing previously noted gaps related studies.
